Yaro
by Lone
_Name:Yaro, African for "son".
(Umiko's owner thought it meant "bastard/fatherless son", which is, ironically, what it means in his native language, Japanese.)
Age: young (4/5th gen)
Gender: male
Status: owned; house pet
Breed: 2/8 Australian Shepherd, 2/8 husky, 1/8 collie, 3/8 blue heeler
Parents: Kangee(c)me & Colette(c)Lone
Siblings(In Order of Birth):
Litter One:
Gyp(c)Breezestarbuck, Kipp(c)street dog, Pip(c)Lone, Tripp(c)Lone, Whip(c)Lone, and Zip(c)me
Litter Two (her littermates):
Ruven(c)Lone, Adeaze(c)me, Nituna(c)me, Katima(c)Lone, and Princess(c)Lone
Litter Three:
Blue Jay(c)me, Kite(c)Lone, Kestrel(c)me, and Love Bird(c)Lone
Personality: Kind of cocky and brash. Yaro can be rude and belittling, but he is capable of showing extreme loyalty and affection despite this. He says he thinks girls need to stay "in their place", but really he prefers females who have a brain on their shoulders and can put up a good fight. Very protective of what he considers "his". Dislikes being put in his place.
Crush: he'd never admit it, but he loves Umiko--still does when She breaks up with him and Yaro takes up with Nera
History:
Yaro's siblings were all adopted before him. He spent a year and a half on his parent's farm before a Japanese man finally came and took him home with him. Yaro was excited to be the king of his own home, but was soon knocked into reality when he met the man's first dog, the resident female, Umiko.
Yaro was immediately jealous of her relationship with his master, and ignored her when she tried to make friends or strike up a conversation. It grew apparent to Yaro that she likewise grew a distaste for him, eventually getting the message and leaving him to himself. He was content to never speak to her again, and their master was hardly ever home to force them to get along. While Yaro staked his claim on the house, poor Umiko was left to wander around outdoors. However, Yaro made a miscalculation; Umiko managed to make a new friend--a male friend.
At first Yaro only felt threatened territorially, but then he overheard Umiko and her friend, Raisin, talking about the guy, Skylar; apparently he's had a lot of experience with the ladies. A little TOO much for Yaro's comfort. Luckily Umiko makes the decision to break up with Skylar herself, much to Yaro's relief--He had come a little too close for comfort to actually caring for Umiko's well-being.
He learned, though, that apparently Skylar and Umiko are still friends, but Yaro will not allow it. If he sees Skylar, he will chase him off his property and beyond. Umiko asked him to leave Skylar alone, to which Yaro replied, probably in the heat of the moment, that Skylar was trashy--not good enough for her. That slip-up made it awkward between Yaro and Umiko for a long while until Yaro had a deadly run-in with a herd of angry elephant seals. Umiko nursed him back to health, giving the pair the opportunity to become very close.
Other: He has a stockier, heeler-type build.
